Michelle K. Lee – Former Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office


Michelle Lee is a proven leader at the highest levels in technology, law, business and government.


As Under Secretary and Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Ms. Lee led one of the largest intellectual property offices in the world and was principal advisor to the President on IP matters. She is the first woman to lead the Office in the country’s history.


Ms. Lee currently serves as the Herman Phleger Visiting Professor at Law at Stanford where she teaches about disruptive technologies and their impact on laws and regulations. Ms. Lee also served as Deputy General Counsel at Google and partner at Fenwick & West.


She holds a B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT and a J.D. from Stanford.
